WYSOX — Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative’s board of directors appointed Bobbi Kilmer of Towanda as the utility’s president and chief executive officer during a board meeting here Monday, March 20.
She replaces Robert O. Toombs of Mansfield, who has stepped down as president and CEO of Claverack, a position he has held since 1998. Toombs will continue to have a role within the organization through his position as president and CEO of C&T Enterprises, a subsidiary of Claverack and its partner cooperative, Tri-County Rural Electric, based in Mansfield.
Since October 2003, Kilmer had served as Claverack’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. As chief operating officer, Kilmer was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the cooperative, budget preparations and interfacing with the board of directors.
“The Claverack board has watched Bobbi’s performance in a leadership role over the past two and a-half years, and we have been very impressed,” said board chairman Donald P. Kannenberg of Little Meadows. “She works well with the board and the employees, and she has demonstrated her commitment to providing outstanding service to our members. We are confident she is the right person to lead Claverack into the future.”
Kilmer began duties with Claverack as an accountant in 1999. In 2001, she was promoted to executive assistant for Claverack and Tri-County.
Prior to her co-op career, Kilmer had been employed by the Kilmer Insurance Agency in Wyalusing.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mansfield University and is a graduate of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Robert I. Kabat Management Internship Program at the University of Nebraska.
Kilmer serves on the C&T Enterprises board of directors, the United Utility Supply Cooperative Corp. board of directors and in January was appointed to the Renewable Energy Assistance Program panel of the Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association, the service organization for the 13 cooperatives in Pennsylvania.
A member-owned, non-profit utility, Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative, with headquarters in Wysox, provides electricity to more than 17,700 consumer-members in Bradford, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Tioga, Lycoming, Sullivan, Lackawanna and Luzerne counties.
