Cooperatives Name Operations Director

John C. Lykens has been named senior director of electric operations for Claverack and Tri-County Rural Electric cooperatives.

Lykens’ services are being shared by the two cooperatives, and he is alternating office hours between Claverack’s headquarters in Wysox and Tri-County’s main office in Mansfield

In his new position, Lykens is responsible for managing the cooperatives’ electric operations and directing outage restoration and dispatching activities.

Lykens earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. Prior to joining the cooperatives, he was employed as an electrical equipment supervisor with Penelec’s Towanda division. Before that he was a distribution design engineer for Quad Three Group in Wilkes-Barre..

A native of Berks County, Lykens and his wife, Stacy, reside in Wyalusing along with their daughters, Emily, Alicia and Olivia.

Lykens replaces Mike VanBergen, who retired from the operations department in July after nearly 30 years of service. Claverack and Tri-County are member-owned, non-profit utilities that serve more than 35,000 electric consumers across the northern tier of Pennsylvania.
