Protect Your Electronic Equipment

Most homes and businesses are connected to the outside world by at least three wires: electric, telephone service and TV cable, antenna or satellite dish. All three are “doors” where electric disturbances can enter and damage equipment. To effectively protect a building and its contents, all those doors must be “locked.”

Protection of a home and valuable equipment begins with a meter socket or a panel-mounted lightning arrestor at the electric service entrance. These devices condition the power by absorbing large transients or spikes and protect the home wiring and large appliances.

Next install plug-in transient voltage surge suppressers (TVSS). These plug into outlets and stand between the wall sockets and electronic equipment, providing further protection for sensitive devices. These plug-in units are available with built-in phone or coaxial cable plugs to “lock out” disturbances on the telephone lines, TV cable or satellite dish wiring.
