Solar Power

Many members have called the Claverack office to request information on solar power.

There are several ways to use solar energy. Photo voltaic systems transform solar energy into electricity, usually as direct current systems. Small direct current systems can power lighting and small appliances. Technology also exists to change direct current into alternating current, and then interconnect to the electrical grid.

Some members are currently utilizing solar panels to heat domestic water, by using a heat exchanger along with piping and circulating pumps. Other members simply circulate water through black water lines on a garage roof, to heat their pools.

Claverack believes energy conservation and using energy wisely benefits all members. Please use the links on the right to learn more about solar systems, net metering, interconnection, and other alternative energies.
