High Voltage Safety Demonstration

At Claverack, safety first not only applies to our employees, but to our members as well. Because of our commitment to safety, Claverack has constructed a high voltage safety demonstration to educate the public of potential hazards associated with any electrical distribution system in and around the communities we serve.

The thirty minute high voltage safety demonstration illustrates the dangers associated with downed power lines, common misconceptions about one’s personal safety around power lines, and includes electrical contact simulations. We also demonstrate the dangers associated with improperly connecting a portable generator to an electrical service. Electrical arc flashes and faults illustrate the potentially fatal power present in all electrical lines. This presentation will leave a lasting impression!

These safety demonstrations are presented throughout the year at county fairs, Claverack’s annual meeting, schools and civic organizations. Presentations to large groups of 50 individuals or more are considered by request. The demonstration can be tailored to all ages. Should your organization be interested in a demonstration, please give our Operations department a call at 1-800-326-9799.

We ask all members to please remember the following:

  • Treat ALL conductors as if they are energized.
  • Keep a safe distance from downed power lines.
  • Report all power problems as soon as possible.

YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT!
