2009 Annual Meeting

Directors re-elected at Claverack annual meeting

Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative members returned three incumbents to the cooperative board of directors during the utility’s 72nd Annual Meeting Saturday, July 18, at the Wysox Fire Department’s recreational complex.

Claverack members unanimously re-elected Thomas J. Elliott of Towanda RR 5, Michael J. Coleman of Montrose and James E. Luce of Laceyville RR 1 to represent Zones 4, 5 and 6, respectively, on the co-op board.

Three of Claverack’s nine board seats were up for election this year. Directors are elected to three-year terms.  During a reorganizational meeting immediately following the annual meeting, Elliott was re-elected chairman; Kevin Barrett of Troy  was elected vice chairman; Coleman was re-elected board secretary/treasurer, and Steven T. Sliwinski of Troy was elected as vice secretary/treasurer.

Nearly 2,500 members and guests turned out for the gathering, during which they heard election results, as well as business reports from cooperative President and Chief Executive Officer Bobbi Kilmer and board Chairman Tom Elliott.

Guest speaker Dave Rowe, retired manager of member services for Randolph (N.C.) Electric Membership Corporation and a former professional football player, provided colorful anecdotes about his playing days at Penn State University, as well as his 13-year career in the National Football League.
